Testimonials
Zwelakhe is for me the ultimate model citizen. He is hardworking, selfless and ethical, the kind of person that keeps his promise even when it hurts. All the years I have known and worked with Zwelakhe I have never seen him back off from a challenge, in fact he seems to get energised by the sight of challenges and will not rest until he has overcome.
During his years in the Oil Industry Zwelakhe worked in different functions and acquired deep understanding of the business. Not only does he understand the global and local oil flows, he has a rare appreciation of the performance drivers and monitoring of business performance.
Zwelakhe is articulate and has excellent presentation skills. I always marvelled at how he effortlessly presented challenging concepts in a simple and often entertaining way.
Zwelakhe is a real gem and an asset to whoever is privileged to work with him.

I have worked with Zwelakhe Mabece for over 5 years at one of the large multinational oil companies in different capacities. In the early years, I did not directly work with Zwelakhe, but we were in the same Finance organisation that was responsible for the organisation’s planning and performance management. His energy and commitment to the work was evident as he was key in the supply performance aspect of the role. He was always ready to provide insightful input and challenge where necessary. I was fortunate enough to have then had an opportunity to work with him as one of the leaders in the demand planning and performance lead role. It was a breath of fresh air as for the first time, we were able to look at our planning and engagement processes from a different perspective and establish how we could improve our engagement with the aim of improving the demand planning and performance role. I have met individuals that are busy with focusing on output in organisations, however with Zwelakhe, there was always outcome that is measurable in mind. I would work with Zwelakhe any day in the future.

Zwelakhe’s professional (and I believe his personal) life are governed by ethical principles. As a result of this he was nominated to be the Chairperson of the Fund’s Governance Sub-Committee. Zwelakhe also served on the Investments and Communications Sub-Committees and his input and views were respected and sought after. He was held in high regard and trusted by fellow trustees and colleagues. He thrives in challenges and is always exploring the best way to get the best outcome for the Fund’s members, an important characteristic for a trustee who has to represent member interests, even if it conflicts with their own interests.
He is the kind of person who is true to his word and does not do things just to follow rules but is governed by his conscience and promise. I do not know whether he remembers this, in 2013 he said about his Trusteeship and Fund meeting attendance with each apology I have sent, I’m reminded of the commitment I have made more than the rule we are to comply to.
His selfless service and humourous personality is greatly missed by the Fund. I have no doubt that he will be an absolute success in his venture and wish him well.
